In most parts of the United States, we have toilets called the 'American Standard.' Costly and water intensive, they fit perfectly into the American culture. Mother Russia introduced me to shelf toilets...For those faint of hygenic heart, read no further. While the shelf system may conserve natural resources, it does so at the price of odor. In fact it often reeks, overpowering the hapless user and those within the tiny confines of the apartment.
Unlike its American counterpart, the shelf toilet does not imerse one's rabbit pellets in water. Rather, they rest upon a small shelf, waiting until the anticipated flush. When the flush begins, a torrent of water rushes out pushing the pellets over the edge, and into the depths of the sewer system
